John van Oorschot
After completing a Master’s in Architecture, Building and Planning at Eindhoven University of Technology, and being employed for a short period in the construction sector, I completed a PhD at the University of Twente in the field of innovation adoption in the housing sector. This research project covers the acceptance and adoption of innovation and in particular aims at identifying the mechanisms which hinder and/or stimulate the uptake of innovation in the housing sector in the Netherlands in order to facilitate change towards a sustainable built environment. Currently, I’m employed as a Senior researcher and program leader in the field of Circular Building Technology at the Smart Urban Redesign Research Center, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Heerlen, the Netherlands. In this way, I would like to contribute to the transition towards circular, energy-positive and just societies in line with the EU mission ‘Living well within planetary boundaries’. Doing so I participate in various nationally funded research and innovation projects.
